Ramen is my current obsession is the chilly winter weather in Calgary, AB. I love the broth, the noddles, and how it just warms you head to toe. My top three ramen places in Calgary include:
- Shiki Menya located in Bridgeland, Calgary, AB. Veggie friendly, opens at 11am and is known for pumping old school hip hop. This is definitely the trendiest ramen spot that I know of in Calgary and my favourite. Its a small establishment and crowds appear fast for these delicious bowls. Be prepared to sometimes wait up to an hour in line but don’t hesitate because once they run out of broth for the day they close up shop.
Monday-Saturday 11am until out of soup
2. Shikiji, located just off centre street in Calgary, AB. This is the sister restaurant of Shiki Menya. It’s equally as good but you won’t be waiting on the street for a prolonged amount of time. Wait time averages between right away to 15 minutes. Only downfall is there’s no hip hop blasting in the back ground!
Saturday-Sunday 1130am-230pm, 5-9pm
3. Jinya, located in Mission, Calgary, AB. There’s a new kid in town and their ramen is pretty damn tasty. When I gave it a try it was fairly packed but since there are a fair amount of tables and their turn over is quick I got a table in 15 minutes. Also veggie friendly. I’d go back for sure!
